Accessible event venues

Accessible event venues help to make attending or being involved with the fantastic range of events more available to everyone.

One in five people in the UK have an impairment, this can affect where they choose to stay or visit. We understand how important accessibility is for both our visitors and event organsiers and how accessible event venues can help.

We are delighted to be able to offer a completely accessible venue. YEC allows people with physical or learning disabilities to enjoy community life, socialise and plan days out with the same dignity and convenience as everyone else – which can often be taken for granted.

Disabled friendly event venues

Accessible event venues – How accessible and disabled guest-friendly is YEC?

Our Venue

YEC has been designed as a level access venue with no corridors, gangways or internal stairs. We offer entrance ramps and double doors to both halls and automatic doors in the main entrance. All entrance steps and ramps are supported by handrails. Both of our on-site cafes are located on the ground floor, therefore are easily accessible.

YEC is flooded with natural light. This creates a calm, inviting environment for visitors and staff.

Our Facilities

We have 6 disabled toilets across both halls and have recently installed a spacious Changing Places facility. Over 250,000 people in the UK need Changing Places toilets but there are only just over 1,000 across the UK.

Assistance and guide dogs

We welcome assistance dogs on-site and can ensure drinking water is made available. If required, we also have space for assistance dogs to be exercised.

Wheelchair and scooter hire

We work with a locally based company to provide visitors with wheelchair and scooter hire. Please contact Able to Enable to discuss your requirements.

Planning ahead and arriving at the YEC

For more details on local transport and how to get to us please see Visit Us. Once you arrive on site, follow signs for your event.

Parking at the YEC

We offer 1,000’s of parking spaces on-site, furthermore all our parking is free.  Disabled parking spaces are available for blue badge holders at every event. Parking stewards will be on hand to help park and direct you to the most convenient spaces.  At large events or for visitors that are not blue badge holders, golf buggies can be available to take you to or from your car.

We have an all weather surface on the route from the priority car park to Halls.

Eating at the YEC

Both our cafes provide a range of menu options and seasonal, locally sourced specials. Ideal for a morning coffee to plan your visit, or simply to catch up with colleagues or friends over lunch. Both cafes offer outside seating, providing the perfect meeting point or to take some time to relax.

The showground is also home to Fodder, our fantastic farm shop and café.

Registration and advanced tickets

We host a wide range of public and trade events. More details can be found on our What’s On page.

Advanced tickets can be purchased for most events, therefore reducing queuing on arrival. Any visitors looking to bring a carer with them, carer ticket rates apply to most events.

Ticketing information for each event can be found in the event details.
