Events that support charity are hugely popular with the public.  A recent auction held at YEC raised funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Cheese lovers at the Great Yorkshire Show raised over £6,000 to help the Yorkshire Air Ambulance save lives.

During the Great Yorkshire Show, Hall 1 becomes home to the popular Cheese and Dairy Show.  On the last day of the event visitors are given the chance to bid for a round of their favourite cheese.  Once the judging of all competition entries has taken place, its over to the public to bid.  Winning bids have the chance of taking home some of the country’s best cheese!

Over the years these auctions have raised thousands of pounds for charity. 2018 saw the most money ever raised at the auction.  An amazing total of £6,403.25 being handed over to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. A flying visit from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance took place to hand over the cheque. Cheese and Dairy Show is one of the events that support charity. Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent Air Ambulance charity.  It provides a life-saving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across Yorkshire.  Being able to offer events that support charity work is very rewarding.

Judy Bell MBE Shepherds Purse said: “It’s an amazing amount of money raised, every year the cheese auction gets more popular. The support from the general public is incredible.  It’s fantastic to be able to give this money to such a great cause.”

Nigel Pulling Chief Executive of Yorkshire Agricultural Society said: “As a charity ourselves we are proud to be able to give this amount of money to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.  They provide an essential service to rural communities across Yorkshire.”

Huge thanks on behalf of the YAA to the Yorkshire Agricultural Society for their generous donation. Many of our patients are farmers.  They work in remote locations under difficult conditions.  We know they appreciate the knowledge that the YAA is there for them.
