Why Yorkshire?

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Yorkshire? Is it flat caps and whippets, the glorious countryside, or the perfect Sunday roast with a golden, crispy Yorkshire pudding?

I bet it’s not that it is home to 5.4million people, more people than live in Scotland, New Zealand, Finland, or Norway. Or that its economy is worth a staggering £110bn per year. And if Yorkshire were an independent country, it would have finished in 12th place on the league table in the 2012 Olympics and 14th in the 2016 Games.

We have something for everyone; dynamic and diverse cities, picturesque villages, and outstanding countryside and coast. All of these are worthy reasons why this historic county is often called “God’s own”.

As a destination for events, Harrogate should definitely be on your radar. Apart from its reputation as one of the UK’s happiest places to live, it has a fabulous choice of both independent and chain bars and restaurants, it has an excellent choice of hotels from global brands to those quintessentially Yorkshire guest houses.

Harrogate is easily accessible by train including 6 direct London trains per day, is close to Leeds Bradford Airport that connects the county to the rest of the world, and is a short drive to the motorway network.

The Yorkshire Event Centre is Yorkshire’s foremost, award-winning venue. Perfect for anything from exhibitions to conferences and gala dinners. Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Great Yorkshire Showground, Yorkshire Event Centre is a fabulous space built by event professionals, for event professionals. There are two flexible Halls: Hall 1 at 4,320m² and the adjacent Hall 2 at 1,950m². The Halls can be used independently or together as one venue of 6,270m².

Access and loading could not be easier as it is all on the same level and there is plenty of free parking for both visitors and exhibitors.

Hall 1 has a 400m² entrance foyer that is bright and airy and has opportunities for branding. There is a café that can seat 150 guests and a seminar room for 100.

Hall 2 also has a private entrance area with a reception desk and an organiser’s office. There is also plenty of opportunity for branding.

Unusually for a large venue, Hall 1 has a covered terrace overlooking the Crimple Valley so should the weather allow, it is a fantastic opportunity for people to step outside and recharge. It also means that you can be creative with any breakout space from tepees to gathering around a campfire.
